A great reason to invest in Data Protection is ransomware. Often companies get hit by this because an employee recieved a convincing email with an attachment that the click on to view. The infection can spread to everything that user has access to and possibly beyond. With your data backup regularly often several times a day you can greatly minimize the effects of damaged or lost files.
